Microsoft Download Instructions for Double Match Triangulator (DMT)

Microsoft's new SmartScreen has become much more aggressive in the past few months. It may produce what seem like ominous messages warning you that DMT might put your PC at risk.

If you downloaded DMT from my site: www.doublematchtriangulator.com - and the "Publisher" is listed as Louis Kessler, then I can vouch, that the program is safe.

These are the extra steps you may need to download it:

  1. If you use Microsoft Edge as your web browser, after clicking on the "Download" button, you may get the warning: "DMT-setup.exe was blocked before it could harm your device".

If you don't use Microsoft Edge, but use Google Chrome, Firefox, or some other web browser, and the file downloads without being blocked, then you can skip to Step 7.

  2. Hover over the download with your mouse. You should see a garbage can and three dots:

  3. Click on the three dots and you'll see the menu below:

  4. Click on "Keep". You'll then see this terrible and untrue message:

  5. Click on "Show more" and you'll see:

  6. Click on "Keep anyway". The setup file will finally appear in your Downloads with the ability to open it. So now you can open (i.e. run) the installation program.
  7. When you run the setup program, you may see the following window that Windows may issue:
  8. Click on the "More info" link. The Window should change to this:
  9. Click on "Run anyway". If you see the User Account Control window, then select "Yes" and you can finally start the install!

Yes, I know this is an onerous procedure. It's what Microsoft is imposing on small developers. For more of my take on this, see my blog post: That's not very Smart of you, Microsoft.
